Drive south on Highway 1 past Carmel. The road is highly prone to winter landslides and closures. The driveway climbs steeply on the landward side of the highway and is easy to miss.
All meals are included but alcohol and spa sessions are extra. Reserve your dinner times at the Sur House two weeks in advance to secure ocean-facing tables, and use the hot baths before nine in the morning.
The resort is divided by Highway 1. The Sur House restaurant is a fifteen-minute uphill walk or a golf cart ride across the highway from the rooms. Most rooms face the redwood forest.
