The heavy rain season of April and May can make dirt tracks extremely muddy and wash out low-lying bridges, prompting some luxury camps to close.

Winter (June–September) is the supreme season in the Serengeti. Daily high temperatures are highly comfortable (~85°F) and rainfall is practically non-existent. Without rain, grass thins and wildebeest congregate for spectacular river crossings.
The park exhibits two peak events: January/February in the south for the calving season, and July/August in the north for the Mara River crossings. Choose your travel dates and lodge positions accordingly.
