Spring (March to May) and Autumn (October to November) provide ideal temperatures and lowest flash flood risk. Mid-summer brings extreme heat and North American monsoon thunderstorms that make slot canyons hazardous.
The southern hemisphere summer from December through March provides the longest daylight hours and warmest temperatures for multi-day trekking in Torres del Paine and Los Glaciares, with golden autumn foliage peaking in April.
